WORLDNETDAILY — Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is promising retaliation against the U.S. for launching a missile strike in Baghdad that killed his top general, Qassim Suleimani. The New York Times called Suleimani "a powerful strategist who represented Iran's influence across the region." The paper explained the death was "a considerable blow" to Tehran, because, "as the leader of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, which leads Iran's operations abroad, Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, who was 62, was the country's top security and intelligence commander.... (more)

JERRY NEWCOMBE — Teddy Roosevelt remarked in 1914: "A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education." If that was true then, it is truer today -- because of the curse of political correctness. With a new year upon us, and the opportunity to turn over a new leaf, why not resolve to spend more time in the wonderful book God has given us -- the Bible?... (more)

CLIFF KINCAID — The year 2020 opens with a booming economy and a culture still in rapid decline. One of the leading associates of dead pedophile Jeffrey Epstein says she is being protected from arrest and prosecution because she has dirt on powerful people. Epstein belonged to several influential organizations, including the Council on Foreign Relations, and rubbed elbows with such notables as Bill Gates.... (more)

WESTERN JOURNAL — Donald Trump is hitting Iran where it hurts. For 40 years, the murderous mullahs who lead the Islamic Republic have never needed much of a reason to hate an American president. Even milk toast Jimmy Carter -- a man whose presidency is a byword for American weakness -- was hated by the ayatollahs who took over the country after the revolution of 1979.... (more)

WORLDNETDAILY — Even a disgraced former FBI agent should know when he has no case. But Peter Strzok, the one-time head of counterintelligence for the bureau, argued in a court filing Monday that the Justice Department violated his First Amendment right to free speech when he was fired last year for text messages he sent in 2016 to his then-lover, FBI attorney Lisa Page.... CURTIS DAHLGREN — THREE DAYS before Christmas, I walked into a bar. I looked around, but no one was there, though the Packers were playing to a full house. After a while a bartender appeared, all bubbly and bright, and I ordered a beer. As she popped the top, a stranger came in, dusting off snow, kind of nondescript. He had nary a smile, and for some reason he seemed older than he looked (though I'm not too good at judging the cover of a book).... (more)

REV. MARK H. CREECH — "And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men" (Luke 2:13,14). Some people may be taking down their Christmas decorations, but most people will still be celebrating the holiday season through New Year's Day. In the statement made by the angel to the shepherds and accented by an angelic chorus, the real purpose for the celebration of this holy time is to glorify God.... (more)

DESERET NEWS — Sen. Mike Lee is playing a critical role behind the scenes to get President Donald Trump acquitted in his upcoming impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate. In a story this week, Politico described the Utah Republican as a quiet force and one of the de facto leaders of the case to clear the president. Lee has been coordinating with Trump and his legal team for weeks and told the publication that he started thinking about how to handle an impeachment trial as soon as Democrats won the House majority.... NEWSMAX — Former Vice President Joe Biden reiterated Friday that he would not comply with a subpoena to testify in the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump if one is issued. Biden, the national frontrunner in the Democratic primary races to challenge Trump in November, has not been subpoenaed, but Trump and his allies have discussed calling him to testify. Biden, his son Hunter and their business dealings in Ukraine were the focus of an investigation request Trump made to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that triggered that impeachment inquiry against him and led to two articles of impeachment.... WORLDNETDAILY — Few observers realistically believe that President Trump would be convicted in a Senate trial on the Democrats' claims of obstruction and abuse of power simply because of the numbers.
