Wokeism dominating academia and medicine

Will our youth become ‘woke’ and turn against empiricism in favor of protecting ‘special people’s’ feelings? This threat is in large part a consequence of accepting mental health professions’ assertions that they know ‘human reality’ and buying their assessment that homosexuality is ‘normal’ and should be protected as a civil right.

Wokeism is the current trope of the dissatisfied. It borrows from egalitarianism and Marxism, but leads with the notion you can be transformed into the sex you want to be. Wokeism demands that those who ‘have been transformed’ into the opposite sex never be told they are fake, indeed, everyone must be forced to treat them as ‘real.’ It also wants government to teach and enforce its creed. Where religion requires you believe in things you cannot see (e.g., God, the afterlife), Wokeism requires you to deny empirical reality – you must at least act as though you don’t believe what your lying senses tell you (e.g., the ‘transformed’ are but mutilated pretenders).

Woke’s spear is a group of highly disturbed activists who have been or might be mutilated attempting to ‘become’ the opposite sex, or believers in the mental health professions’ claim that sex change is possible. These disturbed are willing to harass, threaten, bother, charge, or do almost anything against anyone who threatens their belief or counters their movement.

Thus, the American Bookseller Association, the same group that annually runs a banned books week, said on July 14:

    An anti-trans book was included in our July mailing to members. This is a serious, violent incident that goes against ABA’s ends policies, values, and everything we believe and support. It is inexcusable.

    We apologize to our trans members and to the trans community for this terrible incident and the pain we caused them. We also apologize to the LGBTQIA+ community at large, and to our bookselling community.

Talk about the primacy of feelings and groveling! “Violent incident,” “everything we believe in,” “terrible,” “pain,” evidence the fear of this group. They know that trans might destroy their shops, fill the media with lies and complaints, call the homes of owners or workers, let air out of tires, etc., etc. These are booksellers, who make their living catering to those wanting to read something interesting or controversial, refusing to carry a best seller lest the mad mob descend upon them. This fear extends to the medical schools’ professors. Thus (from the Katie Herzog blog [as recorded in an endocrinology class in a medical school within the University of California]):

    During a recent lecture, a professor said something terrible: “He quickly apologized: ‘I don’t want you to think that I am in any way trying to imply anything, and if you can summon some generosity to forgive me, I would really appreciate it …. Again, I’m very sorry for that. It was certainly not my intention to offend anyone. The worst thing that I can do as a human being is be offensive. I said ‘when a woman is pregnant,’ which implies that only women can get pregnant and I most sincerely apologize to all of you.”

This is a medical school! Empirical reality is supposed to be addressed and altered with surgery or drugs in medicine, not trying to be submissive to LGBT craziness! More examples from the American Bar Association and other professions could be cited. But these give the flavor of what is happening across Western Civilization. Can a civilization that made its mark by conquering nature survive if its first concern is to deny reality lest it offend LGBTism?

Wokeism is a totalitarian faith demanding all in society ignore empirical ‘reality’ when it comes to sex. It holds that:

  1. sexual reality depends upon desires rather than empirical reality (thus gays’ pretense to be women must mean they are women, and vice versa). No one must be allowed to credit their senses which, upon examination of the gender-manufactured, would lead them to declare them mutilated rather than genuine. This protection is extended to anyone, including children, who want to be the opposite sex;

  2. language, both spoken and written – even to possible inferences from what is written or said (see the U of California professor above) – must be fixed [and monitored by the Woke] so that anyone pretending to be the opposite sex is never reminded that they are pretending and a believer in Wokeness is never given an occasion to be distressed by someone not agreeing with them. The world must be colored woke);

  3. all members of racially oppressed groups are covered by the same protections (whites excluded, of course, as they are/were usually the most recent oppressors);

  4. attempting to dismiss or counter woke beliefs is violent ‘oppression’ and must be halted;

  5. heterosexuality and homosexuality are equally valid, because you should have the kind of sex you want (whether society can survive if homosexuality grows is beside the point).

Wokeism noted that the Cleveland Indians and Washington Redskins used names that might

‘offend’ some Indians (notice, ‘might’). Wokeism protects the ‘exploited’ (e.g., Indians, who were ‘here’ before us, and thus ‘owned the land’ our civilization now possesses, just as Indian tribes killed or displaced humans that were ‘here’ before they got ‘here.’ Likewise, blacks owned black slaves in Africa. But to the woke, only the last killing, slave-holding, or land-grab counts).

Wokeism controls most college campuses right now. There, with rare exception, LGBTs (especially trans) reign supreme. As befits a revolutionary creed, the US Constitution, with its rights and protections for citizens, especially freedom of speech, is set aside so that the woke can punish those who will not accept the woke faith.

This is not a small issue. The latest poll suggests about a third of adults say they are already woke. And the pressure to become Woke from professional organizations, the media, and the White House is growing.

According to the poll, a sixth of Republicans and half of Democrats claimed to be woke. Republicans ran 2:1 against woke while Democrats were 4:1 for woke. The religious are more apt to be Republicans, and probably account for much of non-Wokeism in the Republican party.

Much of the racial bits of Wokeism appear to spring from ignorance. Every people, country, alliance, or movement has had leaders and followers who violated fairness, and almost all have killed or stolen from others to gain. Indians killed or stole territory from other Indians, whites killed Indians and allied with some Indians to prevail. Blacks enslaved myriads of European whites at one time, whites returned the favor closer to our time. In the mental health part of woke philosophy, it is important that no one in the favored groups be provided the occasion to possibly be upset. Indeed, to avoid ‘knowing’(which is ‘painful’ and ‘distressing’), the woke alter or cancel history. Woke pretend they are so wonderful, that all who came before them must be eliminated so encountering non-woke thoughts (troubling to the believers) are avoided.

The failures to achieve something closer to perfection has been denounced countless times throughout history. And yet the failures among the current citizens are legion. The young, who must lead almost any revolution, may be getting prepared to be the spear: 68% of adults say they are ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ proud to be an American, and 15% “moderately’ so in the 2021 I&I/TIPP poll. 55% of Blacks and 57% of Hispanics chose ‘very/extremely’ as well. Young adults were the only US age group in the poll to fall below 50% proud: only 36% of young adults – those aged 18 to 24 – went with ‘very/extremely,’ while 35% chose “only slightly proud” or “not proud at all.” 24% of those who called themselves liberals said they were “somewhat proud” or “not proud at all” v 4% of conservatives saying the same, but 81% of conservatives chose “extremely proud” or “very proud,” while so did 55% of liberals.

The age pattern of stated pride in the UK was similar to that in the US, as British young adults were less proud to be a Brit than the other age groups in the most recent British Social Attitudes Survey. Of interest, 35% of adults were “very proud” to be a Brit, compared to 44% of Americans who chose “extremely proud” to be an American.

The significant discontent of Americans is odd, since, as measured by the numbers of folk wanting in or sneaking in, the US is the most popular country on earth. Of the large countries, it is the most prosperous, and even its poor are rich compared to most of mankind. When it comes to freedom – whether freedom to speak, travel, have the means to buy stuff as well as the availability of stuff to buy, or how you live your life – the US is arguably the freest on the planet. You’d think citizens would be overwhelmingly grateful to be here. Yet a woke revolution is afoot, and people are losing jobs, status, and freedoms for failing to follow woke principles.

What can be done?

The scope of Wokeism is not entirely clear as this secular faith is still developing and growing among the discontented revolutionaries. However, since one of its major tenants is to drug and mutilate to try to approximate the external body of the opposite sex for those who want it, making such surgeries and administration of the necessary drugs illegal would go a long way toward stopping it. In most jurisdictions it is illegal to engage in mutilation of persons. These woke surgeries are, from an objective perspective, mutilations (since they do not accomplish their stated purpose – that is, to make one sex into the other sex. At their best they only accomplish plausible superficial changes in the external bodies of male trans, and other than removing breasts and adding hair and ‘hardness,’ much less with the external bodies of female trans [only God can make a penis]).

Napoleon is often credited with saying ‘fools must be protected from themselves.” In this case, society must be protected from those (mental health professionals, endocrinologists, and surgeons) profiting from and pushing this mutilating madness.

The consequences of making homosexuality legal continue to expand.
