Cleansing time in D.C.

The time has come for a cleansing in Washington — time to rid the stench at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The last four years of fetid, socialist rot requires a mass fumigation by the voters of our republic. In short, team Obama must go.

We don't have a Ronald Reagan this time, although his memory will serve as a rallying cry for those who understand just how far away Obama has taken us from that "shining city on a hill." Mitt Romney is no Reagan, but he is the only chance we have of ending Obama's socialist assault.

Romney has many drawbacks — some of which I covered in my last column, "Electing Pepé Le Pew". Without rehashing those points again, they can be summed up thusly, that Romney is not a constitutionalist and is indeed an establishment "Big R" Republican moderate.

One thing that Romney is not however, is a socialist. He doesn't hate this country or its founders. He doesn't hate free enterprise. He doesn't hate small business or capitalism — and he would never make a ridiculous, condescending statement to business owners like Obama's "You didn't build that" debacle. While the Obama damage control spinmeisters, along with their willing accomplices in the "main stream media" did everything they could to claim the quote was taken out of context, a simple read of the remarks from the White House's official site reveals the truth. An Obama apologist can spin that Freudian slip any way they wish and hope we keep looking at the "great and powerful O," but the curtain has been brushed aside for all to see the sham.

Let's also not forget Obama's remarks on the campaign trail in 2008 regarding Pennsylvania conservatives: "And it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." Evidently anyone who believes in upholding constitutional rights pertaining to freedom of religion and the right to bear arms is subject to this sort of condescending derision, not to mention those who wish to uphold the immigration laws that Obama wants so badly to repeal. Not only is Obama-the-Alinskyite a closet communist, he's also a pretentious snob with an overly inflated view of his intelligence.

Even more appalling is the fact that while the MSM lackeys have made Obama out to be some sort of constitutional scholar, he has done everything he can to circumvent it. If Obama has actually read the constitution — or any other founding documents for that matter — he has demonstrated his disdain by choosing to defy, ignore or simply "interpret" it to mean anything he claims it to mean. Given his record, it's a pretty safe bet that Obama prefers the writings of Karl Marx to those of James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.

Obama has brought us the highest sustained unemployment rate ever during a so-called "recovery." The numbers of course are even worse when you factor in those who have given up searching for work and are no longer counted in unemployment statistics. He has spent and borrowed our way into debt with bailouts, Obamacare and more and seems to think that if the fed keeps printing money that somehow everything will work out fine.

Obama's record on energy has been abysmal, although he tried to take credit for increased production of oil and natural gas during the first debate. Romney quite correctly pointed out that the increase has come from private land, not government land. Obama said no to the Keystone pipeline, something that would have been a boon to our economy in the way of jobs and energy production. The move was typical Obama — caving in to the green fascists who are opposed to any and all forms of energy except for those that won't work. Obama's energy legacy will be a bunch of failed "green" companies that received funding, such as Solyndra.

Finally, but not the least, is Benghazi-gate. The MSM keeps trying to help the Obama administration deflect attention away from this scandal. Too late — the genie is out of the bottle and an increasingly large number of voters have become aware that this administration lied about the cause of the attack in Libya. They lied and then tried to cover it up for political reasons. How Nixonian.

No, Mitt Romney is not the ideal candidate — but he is the only one who can unseat the abomination that is steering us toward oblivion. Voting for Romney is the only real way to vote against Obama. No matter how principled you may be and abhor the idea of voting for the "lesser of two evils," this time around the better adage will be to "not cut off your nose to spite your face."

Turnout is vital. The fumigation of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is the mission...report to the polls Tuesday November 6 and let the cleansing begin.
