- "Once we know that people are human and have some Homer Simpson in them, then there's a lot that can be done to manipulate them." – Cass Sunstein

- "The great enemy of truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic." – Pres. Kennedy

- "The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion." – Edmund Burke

- "The worst form of tyranny the world has ever known: the tyranny of the weak over the strong. It is the only tyranny that lasts." – Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)

- "It is horrible to see everything that one detested in the past coming back wearing the colors of the future." – Jean Rostand (1894-1977)

- "[The] example of the monkey: The higher it climbs, the more you see of its behind." – St. Bonaventure (1217-1274)

- "Power does not corrupt men; fools, however, if they get into a position of power, corrupt power." – George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)

- "Benefits ought to be handed out drop by drop, so that they may be relished the more . . . No enterprise is more likely to succeed than one concealed from the enemy until it is ripe for execution." – Machiavelli

- "The redistributive nature of Obamacare is the point of the program; anyone claiming ignorance, therefore, is not telling the truth." – Senator Gillibrand

- "Man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite." – old joke back in the ol' Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

- "The function of socialism is to raise suffering to a higher level." – Norman Mailer

- "The only place socialism works is in heaven, where they don't need it, and in hell, where they already have it." – President Reagan

- "Corrupt influence, which is itself the perennial spring of all prodigality, and of all disorder . . loads us more than millions of debt, takes away vigor from our arms, wisdom from our councils, and every shadow of authority and credit from the most venerable parts of our constitution." – Edmund Burke (1729-1797)

- "Religion and good morals are the only foundation of public liberty and happiness." – Samuel Adams

["What's morality mean?" – typical teenager today]

P.S. "Words of wisdom" had to be whispered back in the ol' USSR because Big Brother was listening. A few Orwellianisms more:

- "One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes a revolution in order to establish a dictatorship."

- "No advance in wealth, no softening of manners, no reform or revolution has ever brought human equality a millimeter nearer."

- "There are some ideas so wrong that only a very intelligent person could believe in them."

PPS: "It has been well said 'the arch-flatterer with whom all the petty flatterers have communion is a man's self." – Francis Bacon (1561-1626)
