Julyteenth: Did you miss it? I nearly did

This past weekend was July 13. The one-year anniversary of the assassination attempt (actually, the first of two assassination attempts, back to back) on President Donald Trump’s life. Did the “legacy news outlets” somehow miss this? I think so. I did not hear a single mention of it except for on one lone, local, radio talkshow over the weekend. Does anyone realize just how important “Julyteenth” is to our nation? Really folks, think about it. July 13, 2024.

Had this assassination attempt succeeded, the Republican Party would have gone to the convention without a frontrunner. Sound familiar? The GOP would have been in the same boat as the DNC when they (wink, wink) shoved Kamala onto Democrat voters. Anyone remember that? How the tables would have been reversed. There would have been no table-turning debate between President Trump and Crooked Sleepy Joe as he became to be known. Joe Biden would have remained the nominee – debate free – and Kamala the VP as “Number-2” (no pun intended) on the ticket. By now, Biden would surely have resigned and Kamala would be our president. “47” actually. Oh my Lord! Heaven Help Us! We would surely have, by now, at least 10-million more illegals walking our streets with free iPhones and prepaid MasterCards. Healthcare anyone? Hunter would be exhibiting at MoMA. LA, still burnt of course. Oh yeah, and nukes in Iran.

And do you think for one minute, that the DNC would have just sat there and allowed the GOP to proceed in the same manner as they did with no candidate? Surely not. “Destroying our democracy!!!” I can hear it now. The whole thing is just too difficult to fathom. No delegates? No front running candidate? Federal Judges all over the country making various rulings against the GOP with no candidate… As the Democrats actually were, you may recall, at that moment. What a blessing that assassin’s sights were a bit off or was it his aim? We will never know I guess. None the less. “Julyteenth,” our nation’s date of rebirth. A needed Federal Holiday for sure if there ever were.

And speaking of Federal Judges. I also read over this weekend that some Federal Judge has issued yet another restraining order against our president, in an attempt to block immigration enforcement in California. The pot farm where protesters showed up in mass and all hell seemed to break out. The judge, in his wisdom, stated that ICE really can’t ask anyone anything based on anything anyone may or may not say… do or not do. So, how is this supposed to work? We have locking doors on our homes, fences, gates, for a reason.

If you follow the logic out to its logical conclusion, here is how this sounds to me.

Example: People are robbing a bank. Police show up as do protesters. Protestors are blocking the police from arresting anyone for anything because… well just because they may be wearing masks, holding weapons (not guns however in a “gun-free-zone”), maybe yelling in another language so the police cannot understand, etc. The judge says the police are not allowed to interfere. There is no just cause, no “due-process.” This is it? All you need is enough protesters and maybe speaking another language… Spanish… and you can do pretty much anything you want and get away with it?

So, recently I heard, in a large store, an American, English speaking clerk, courteously (helplessly), stood by as a group of people not speaking English spoke loudly amongst themselves, pointing this way and that, agreeing, then disagreeing, finally coming to a conclusion. All the while, the store clerk stood by, confused, wanting to assist them. What were they discussing so animatedly? Then as if it were a well rehearsed ballet, they picked up thousands of dollars in merchandise and, as if performing a well planned offensive football play, headed out the door. How do we respond to this?

So, asking people to speak English is somehow evil? We are in a losing battle folks.

Happy “Julyteenth.”
