A blonde airhead on the business channel CNBC asked the CEO of the toymaker Mattel “Is Christmas at risk?” because of Trump’s tariffs on China. President Trump must rise above this nonsense and take charge of American foreign policy, defending his tariffs and his massive deportation plans. He is the elected president.
Is a happy Christmas dependent on cheap Chinese toys? Or is Christmas a celebration of the birth of Christ? It is worth wondering as the Vatican contemplates a new pope and Mother’s Day arrives on May 11. The Virgin Mary cradles the dead Christ in her arms in the famous marble sculpture The Pietà by Michelangelo. It is in Saint Peter's Basilica, Vatican City, and is now surrounded by shatter-proof glass because a lunatic attacked it with a hammer.
The Vatican is itself surrounded by a wall.
Today’s lunatics with the Soros-funded "Indivisible" group have announced nationwide protests on June 14 “to deny Trump’s fascist birthday wish” and send him one message: “NO KINGS!”
King? President Trump is acting like the courts have defeated him.
I thought the Trump proposal to pay the foreign invaders to voluntarily leave was a joke. Then I learned it was true. Then I found out that, if they get paid to leave, they have a chance to come back. This is the latest fiasco from the Trump administration, as the president defers to his lawyers and prays for the Supreme Court to save him. It is no wonder the White House sent out an image of Trump dressed up as the pope. This will not impress the courts. The only thing the judges understand is raw power, which Trump refuses to exercise.
The president, apparently aware he looks weak in the face of a foreign invasion, changed the subject, and proposed to reopen Alcatraz. That could take years.
Trump has become a captive of his lawyers. It happened again in his May 4 interview with “Meet the Press.” Here are the relevant and pitiful exchanges:
KRISTEN WELKER:
And this is the point, sir, about due process. The Constitution says every person, citizens, and non-citizens, deserve due process. Why not push to have him come back, present all of that evidence in court, let a judge decide?
PRES. DONALD TRUMP:
Well, I’ll leave that to the lawyers, and I’ll leave that to the attorney general of the United States…. I don’t know much about this gentleman [the foreign terrorist gang member] other than I hear he’s an absolute not good person. And I have very capable legal people, John Sauer, as you know, and all top people. And I have to rely on that to interpret whatever is said by the Supreme Court. Now with that being said, I have tremendous respect for the Supreme Court. Look, three of the people are people I appointed…. And I have great respect for the Supreme Court. And I would expect that the attorney general will be doing the right thing.
While the Fifth Amendment's Due Process Clause applies to all “persons” within the United States, foreign nationals on American soil can be treated differently, according to America’s founding fathers.
Trump has invoked the Alien Enemies Act to send them out of the country because of the presidential finding that Biden’s open borders policy led to an invasion by enemy countries. That law, passed during the time of America’s founding as a nation, permits summarily detaining and deporting civilians identified as enemy agents. It is up to the president, not the courts.
The liberal Brennan Center admits, “The last time the Alien Enemies Act was challenged, in Ludecke v. Watkins in 1948, the Supreme Court upheld President Harry S. Truman’s extended reliance on the law three years after the end of World War II.”
Truman was a Democrat.
The Alien Enemies Act allows the president to deport immigrants from enemy countries during a war, an attempted or threatened invasion, or a “predatory incursion” against U.S. territory. All of that is happening now.
But President Trump waits for his lawyers to win a case at the Supreme Court as the threat grows.
