Why is presenting proper identification to vote so controversial and unacceptable to Democrats? You must be registered on the voter roll to vote, so you must give your name to vote. So why do Democrats scream it’s unreasonable to show your identification to verify your name as registered on the voter roll? Democrats are making all manner of absurd excuses why voter identification is voter suppression. It’s painfully obvious. Democrats are panicking it may become much harder to cheat at elections.
The U.S. House has passed the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act) which requires voters prove U.S. citizenship in federal elections. The SAVE Act is now in the Senate waiting for a vote and Democrats are indicating they will stop it all costs. Why is this a hill they are willing to die on? Quite simply, Democrats fear election integrity will cost them elections.
Howling about presenting an ID to vote seems silly since almost everything in modern American life requires an ID. You need an ID to drive, to board a plane, to get food stamps or welfare, to buy alcohol or a gun, to open a bank account, to rent or buy a house, to get married, to adopt a pet, to rent a hotel room, to apply for fishing or hunting licenses, and to pick up prescriptions. In short, everything requires an ID; therefore, everyone has one. So why should the essential act of voting not require an ID?
The ridiculous Democrat talking point repeated ad nauseum is that requiring voter ID is “Jim Crow 2.0”; the insinuation is that requiring an ID is intended to prevent black Americans from voting because they are more likely to not have an ID. That may have been true a half century ago, but black Americans are increasingly offended that Democrats think they are not capable of navigating modern life to get an ID.
Ironically, when Georgia implemented voter ID requirements, in the next election minority voter participation increased and set a record, so we have recent evidence that requiring an ID to vote does not suppress minority voter participation. In response, Major League Baseball punished Georgia by moving the All-Star game from Atlanta with almost a third black population to Denver with less than 9% black population. Obviously, it’s not about black voting rights or prosperity; it’s about preserving voter fraud.
The Jim Crow claim is patently absurd, but Democrats have conjured an even more ludicrous assertion. Now Democrats are moaning that married women who take their husbands names will be prevented from voting because their married name does not match their birth certificate. That is so silly to allege married women are too dumb to update their IDs, but Democrat women are swearing to this hoax. The bottom line is Democrats will say anything to preserve their ability to cheat. Democrats are shameless liars.
In addition to lying, the Democrat Party knows they need to cheat to win elections. That’s why they opened our borders to flood blue states with illegal immigrants to distort the census and gain greater Congressional representation and whenever possible get illegal aliens to vote illegally. Look no further than utterly corrupt Minnesota. In Minnesota, any voter with an ID can vouch for another eight voters without an ID. Seriously, does anyone believe that is nothing more than a recipe for sanctioned voter fraud? With Voter ID, will Minnesota still be deep blue?
Democrat opposition to voter ID is untenable. Even New York Senator Chuck Schumer supported Voter ID in 1996. What changed? It’s difficult for Democrats to win fair elections.
Americans across all demographics including Democrat voters support requiring ID to vote by more than 70 and 80%. American voters are fair minded; they want to have confidence in our elections like sports that whoever won, won fairly. Americans will suffer a loss if the game or election was fair. Further, the individual right to vote is precious, so Americans want to ensure that it cannot be stolen.
Democrats are apoplectic about voter ID requirements because they know it directly threatens their ability to cheat elections and thereby jeopardizes their capacity to retake Congress and even their grip on power in blue states. Democrats will certainly win some elections, but they must compete and win fairly.
Democrats believe the SAVE Act is about them, but it’s rather about restoring election integrity and ensuring that the will of the American people is not thwarted at the ballot box by Democrat voter fraud. Whatever it takes, pass the SAVE Act now! Our Constitutional Republic depends on it.
