Summer Camps are usually a very good experience for young boys & girls

I look back to the years when I was a young teenager, and it’s doesn’t take long to realize that during the summers of those years, I had a number of memorable summer camp experiences.

For two consecutive summers, I had the privilege of attending camp at Catalina Island Boys Camp. It was a wonderful experience where access to both the ocean and the mountain range which were close to the camp. It also was there that I found a new friend from my hometown (Tim Hamilton)...whom later attended my school in La Jolla.

Leaders of the camp had a wonderful assortment of various activities they offer, which includes boating, hiking, skin diving, archery, sailing, and discovering nature. Unlike today, my generation (as a teenager) didn’t have to deal with the computer age that dominates the lives of many young people these days.

Attendees, these days, of most summer camps will find a more positive environment facing them at summer camps. They become more involved in face to face interaction with other teenage camp attendees. They interact (like I did as a teenager with fellow camp attendees and dorm residents). Connecting with new friends is a very positive experience with most teens as the summer camps experience is just that.

Sadly, today’s younger generation relies too much on technology to interact with their current, past, and future friends. It is so impersonal. That is exactly why I encourage parents to send their young teenagers to camp for a month or two during summer. For more on Catalina Island camp information please go to: catalinaislandcamps.com
