I don’t recall ever meeting Dr. Anthony Caruso or Richard Freeman, but both men were well known and respected in the Chicago area pro-life community for years. Their earthly pilgrimages came to an end in recent days.
From Aid for Women:
Dr. Anthony Caruso was a physician for over 30 years, bringing countless joys to many families and serving as Aid for Women's longtime medical director. His Catholic faith showed day after day both in and out of the office, and he was truly a defender of life. Throughout his battle with ALS, Dr. Caruso showed an unwavering commitment to serving the unborn. He is survived by his wife Barbara and their six children.
Click here to watch his very touching acceptance speech – in the late stages of ALS – for the 2022 Praesidium Vitae Award. I highly recommend watching it; it isn’t long.

From LifeSiteNews.com (Oct. 14):
Richard Freeman was active in pro-life efforts with Joe Scheidler’s Pro-Life Action League in the Chicagoland area….
‘I feel a certain sense of sadness as I fondly remember this great champion for the unborn,’ Monica Miller, president of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, told me via email.
‘Many years ago we stood together [sidewalk counseling] outside the Michigan Avenue Medical Center in downtown Chicago,’ Miller said. She said that ‘undoubtedly there are human beings walking the earth today due to Richard’s pro-life efforts.’
