An open letter to Canadian and Newfoundland Friends.

Dear JC[3];

Our recent exchange on Facebook has given me some pause for thought re Trudeau’s[4] tariff retaliation, Marx ☭arney’s continuation of it and of my support for Donald Trump even though as a Canadian Citizen I cannot vote for him. like you, my favorite Female cousin KC even stated “I used to think you were smart Desmond.” Other lifelong friends and relatives have not yet gone as far as to unfriend me in Facebook, but did take the effort to chastise me in a public post instead of a private message. The messages are all the same, claiming I am no longer a Canadian or a Newfoundlander. All this swirling around Facebook as Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) thicker than the fog off Cape St. Mary’s. It ill behooves me to understand why two-thirds of Canadians (64%) held favourable views of Kamala Harris.[5] Propaganda perhaps?

But what is TDS? How does it start and then propagate like an ideological virus? There are some friends and strangers who believe TDS is Operation MK ultra 2.0[6] and you have probably never heard of Dr. Donald Ewen Cameron of the Montreal Mental Hospital, (associated with McGill) let alone paid attention to the fact that the Supreme Court of Canada won't hear an appeal in Montreal MK-ULTRA brainwashing case.[7]

Man can, by taking reasonable precautions, protect himself from practically all the other normal hazards of life such as lightning, disease, physical violence, and bombings; but no man has yet been able to devise an effectual defense against the influence of propaganda, or dig a shelter deep enough in the earth to hide himself from the forces of an idea shot from a high-powered propaganda machine.[8]

Another friend, BF, has had severe TDS since before we all went to France for the 100th Memorial at Beaumont Hamel in 2016; friends PL , CS and I have simply decided to no longer include the word “Trump” in any mutual conversations with BF. The price to pay to maintain a friendship. It’s not supposed to be this way.

JC; I have been amazed by your logic; “I was negotiating to purchase a boat in the US as recent as this past week but have now reconsidered and am sourcing the same boat in Canada as I’m expecting additional duties etc.” Why weren’t you sourcing a boat through a Newfoundland business in the first place, considering that both “Trudeau” and “Furry” had you all under virtual house arrest in Newfoundland during COVID and somehow it was safer to do business at a superstore rather than a mom and pop corner store? Many of said small businesses have disappeared because of Trudeau’s and Furry’s[9] policies in cahoots with the WEF, WHO and the advice of Carneys selling bread and circuses.

What was Carney’s advisory role in seizing the funds during the Truckers protest? In New York MOB vernacular, Trudeau stepped down as Don of the Librano$ and was replaced by his Consigliere.

Perhaps there is some justification in your hypocrisy, after all Newfoundlanders have been taxed into poverty since Con-Federation. I am not sure if you remember the bumper sticker on my car in Alberta in the late 80’s “Born in Newfoundland but can’t afford to live there.” The following video is from someone whose commentary I follow occasionally despite preferring to read newspapers. Sadly, Newfoundland no longer has a daily paper after the Telegram was bought and downsized. Even VOCM[12] with its open line program is now part of Montreal-based Stingray Digital Media Group. Joe L. Butler (Sr.) must be rolling over in his grave, given that Premier Joey Smallwood threatened said Joe Butler over his refusal to carte blanche broadcast Smallwood’s favorable Propaganda instead of offering differing opinions for people to make their minds up on the facts. None of this is new to me and I spoke of much of the same at a CRTC hearing at the Battery Hotel March 16, 1999[14]

The Local Journalism Initiative (LJI), created by Steven Guilbeault Canadian Heritage Minister in 2019, doled out $50 million over five years while he was Minister of Environment and Climate Change. Aren’t you concerned that Guilbeault is now back in his original role in the Propaganda Ministry? A latter-day Climate Goebbels’s like Chicken Little “The Sky is falling.”

In my CRTC submission of 26 years ago; “none of the major television networks and none of the radio networks in Canada today do any investigative journalism and do any exposés on government policy and how the government in Canada, particularly the federal government, is against the people.”

I later commented: “We have a federal government that wants to think that Canada is a unitary state… Everything that is going on in this country is diverting us away from the truth and I think the truth is that we have a federal government that has gone out of control and that we need more than ever a public broadcaster, not a state media outlet. By a public broadcaster, I mean a broadcaster that is accountable to the public, delivers entertainment to the public and also does investigative journalism on the public's behalf when the government is against the public.”….

You are all living in a dystopian nightmare worse than Orwell ever imagined and when I posted the following image on FB I was deeply dismayed when a friend and former neighbour from some 55 years ago stated of Carney, “Perhaps one of the most qualified candidates to lead a nation in today’s world.” I would no more trust Marx ☭arney to navigate the Ship of State called Canada across the Atlantic than you trusted the late Norv Blair going around Cape Freels.

I can also provide many other instances (the transcripts thereof which may still reside in the cyber world) where I publicly railed as a Newfoundlander against Canadian Federal Government policy, my actions halted the Lightstation destaffing twice. The levels of Service for Aids to Navigation in Newfoundland and Labrador waters are still only 20% of the maritime provinces of NB, NS and PEI; So be cautious in your boat off Cape Freels or Cape St. Francis.

I was also vocal during the original NAFTA and GST consultations when we both lived in Alberta, and the likewise the HST consultations when it was being rammed down the throats of Newfoundlanders 25 plus years ago, the latter I still have a printed transcript of. I also kicked up bloody hell when the Newfoundland flag was taken down at the 100th memorial of Beaumont Hamel in favour of Prince Charles royal standard; additionally, no representative of the Newfoundland Government was allowed to speak.[16] There is now a dedicated flagpole for the Flag of Newfoundland that flew during WW1 because myself, and a handful of dedicated others spoke out. How dare you claim I am no longer a Newfoundlander! JC and Others what have you done? All I see is a bunch of adults acting like hormonal adolescents sharing Occupy Democrat Memes and destroying Tesla’s[17] without a F’ing clue in regards to the true current status of Taxation and Tariffs in Canada. Did you actually do or say anything in support of the Truckers Freedom Convoy that I wrote about? Or are you just content to be lemmings with TDS? Are you and many other Newfoundlanders genetically compelled like Atlantic salmon to vote Liberal every 4 years? Where our ancestors voted for “The Baby Bonus” our younger generation now have demands for "Universal Basic Income" (UBI)! Are you now going to follow a new moses in the name of Marx ☭arney to the Promised Land[18] in Davos with the WEF?

Perhaps its worth a read of my article "Canada starts taxing underused property inside provinces" May 1, 2023. Was this a Librano plot to have Canadians register all real property under duress of fine so that said property to said property could be used as a bail-in for the banking system when it collapses? In the 90’s I paid $5000 to assist a late friend of mine, Robert Marquis in getting his book published: I still have some copies and it is still highly relevant with regards to the HST and Carbon Taxes.

We are at a point in Canada where Ottawa (Upper Canada) collects all the revenue for the Territories and Provinces other than Quebec (Lower Canada) who collects all the taxes within Quebec and transfers the Federal portion to Ottawa. In return Quebec gets the lion’s share of Equalization on top of the obscene windfall profits from the Upper Churchill Hydroelectric project for the past 46 years.

It is no mere coincidence that 70% of all diary cows in Canada are in Ontario and Quebec[19] while little mention of the tariffs imposed by Ottawa on American Diary Products. Do you think that these sacred cows will be eliminated as a source of Methane or will the Climate Scammers attack the oil and gas industry on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland and the Western Praries?

Electricity:

While Newfoundlanders pay through the nose for electric Power: In Montreal, the average cost of electricity for a household is around 7.59 cents per KW. My last bill from Newfoundland Power 641 kWh @ $0.14237/kWh with HST = $121.26 or 18.9 cents per kw Hr. Did you know when Ottawa creates a Tax Holiday for the HST they actually deprive the respective provinces (Except Québec) of the provincial component of said Harmonized Tax? How about a fair equalization setup considering that both Newfoundland and Quebec are shareholders in the Churchill Falls Power development, make an energy equalization contract such that the residential and commercial electricity rates are equalized in both provinces?

Oil and Gas:

JC; This following Graphic was done when the Justin Trudeau Liberals came into power a decade ago. It shows the relative oil wealth of Newfoundland in respect to Kuwait and OPEC, A region where you and I have firsthand knowledge and both agree, sharing a similar belief “If you have been there, no explanation is necessary and if you have not; no explanation is possible.

Whom of you have ever looked at the profits earned by the Canada Hibernia Holding Corporation, Where are those reinvested? Why is its office in Calgary and not St. John’s? I did not see any collective outrage when Ron Penny wrote about THE GUTTING OF THE ATLANTIC ACCORD? February 28, 2022[20] What about when my late friend Gus Etchegary posted a letter in the St. John’s Evening Telegram “Fight for the fishery or flee Newfoundland and Labrador” August 11, 2021.

If you could save and safeguard hundreds of communities in Newfoundland and Labrador, would you make that effort — especially if it involved immersing yourself in understanding our fishery past, present and future, and perhaps even engaging in a fish fight? [Crickets]

Remember the Turbot War?

There were those close to the root causes of the Turbot War who alleged it was a diversion away from an incident of overfishing of Turbot by fishing vessels from the Quebec North Shore up off Labrador. Here we are 30 years later and Marx ☭arney calls cops on fishermen protesting at his first election rally of the campaign that was held in Newfoundland.[23]

He is committed to “Net Zero” not just for Carbon Emissions but also for Newfoundland Fish harvesters. How often do you hear the full phrase “the Grand Banks of Newfoundland”? Yet so many Newfoundlanders mock the renaming the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. The Grand Banks of Newfoundland are Newfoundland Territory. During attempts in 1761 to negotiate an end to the Seven Years' War, members of the British and French governments independently ventured the same opinion: that the Newfoundland fishery was more valuable than Canada and Louisiana combined "as a means of wealth and power."[24]

The Federal Government Managed the Commercial Annihilation of the Northern Cod for 43 years: “One of the world's greatest sustainable protein resources that should be able to sustain annual landings of more than 400,000 metric tons has been allowed to decline to virtual oblivion.”[25]

What’s in a Name?

Look at all the ocean territory that China claims because it is called “The South China Sea” by building land and military bases on reef’s within other countries sovereign territory.

The only people for whom there was a Cod moratorium these past 33 years were Newfoundlanders feeding themselves and inshore fishermen, while outside the 200 mile limit, but still on the continental slope of the Grand Banks of Newfoundland; foreign vessels were still raping the stocks.

China does not and will not comply with Carbon Taxes and CO2 abatement or stop building Coal Fired Power plants, just like the foreign fishing multinationals through the useless entity known as NAFO the evil spawn of ICNAF (International Commission of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries) (1949-1978). Currently NAFO has thirteen Contracting Parties: Canada, Cuba, Denmark (in respect of the Faroe Islands and Greenland), European Union, France (in respect of St. Pierre and Miquelon), Iceland, Japan, Norway, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. How did many of these countries get fishing rights to the Grand Banks of Newfoundland, I don’t recall a vote or referendum?

I for one am sick and tired of Newfoundland being treated like a cracky dog[30] tied up in the back yard of Con-Federation who occasionally gets thrown a morsel of affection from the Laurentian Elite’s banquet tables in Upper and Lower Canada when we bark or whine too loud about our miserable lot in life under Con-Federation; a corrupt agreement where our natural resources on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland are reserved for or prohibited in a manner that benefits everyone but our livyers[31] and their outports.
