Why is getting a voter ID requirement so hard to get passed into law?! Americans overwhelmingly support requiring an ID to vote. Across all demographics and even including Democrats, every poll shows support from 70-90+%! So, if a vast majority of Americans including most Democrats and Republicans support requiring an ID to vote, why won’t the Senate pass it? Why is it even a controversy?
Actually, there is no controversy on the need for voter IDs; that debate is over. It’s just common sense that only American citizens vote in our elections and that each voter validates their identity to protect their own vote. Furthermore, the Democrat nonsense that getting an ID is an undue burden, or that minorities are too dumb to get an ID, or that married women are too busy to update their IDs is beyond laughable because every adult activity in modern America requires an ID. Moreover, 99.9% of Americans have an ID; even the homeless have IDs.
Most Americans also fully understand that ensuring the integrity of our elections is vital to preserving our Constitutional Republic. Our government only gets its authority by consent of the governed, so guaranteeing elections accurately reflect the will of the people is paramount to maintaining confidence in our governing institutions. If elections are in doubt, that doubt undermines the authority of purportedly elected officials. Why would Americans abide by fraudulently elected politicians?
The House managed to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act and send it to the Senate. The Senate has started debate, but both sides claim they don’t have the votes. So, again if most Americans want an ID requirement for voters in elections, why is it stuck in the Senate?!
We know Democrats ridiculous opposition is quite simply to preserve their capacity to cheat. They have all manner of stupid protests and silly claims of voter suppression, but everyone knows it’s all about election fraud. Not good, but at least we know where the Democrats stand. So, where do the Senate Republicans stand?!
Senate Republicans will say they support the SAVE Act, but they only have excuses why they can’t pass it. They had to be forced to make the Democrats do a “talking” filibuster. The integrity of American elections is at stake, and the Republicans want to let the Democrats mail in a filibuster?!
Granted the Senate is more deliberate and difficult to navigate, but that doesn’t lessen the importance of the SAVE Act. Americans are sick and tired of years of voter fraud. It’s just like all the federal money being stolen; government officials tell us the theft and fraud is minimal, but it only takes some pointed questions, honest analysis, and an intrepid 23-year-old YOUTUBER to expose their lies.
Like the border, Americans are demanding our elections be secured. Thankfully, Utah Senator Mike Lee and Missouri Senator Eric Schmidt are leading the charge, but it’s time for Senate Majority Leader John Thune to stop making excuses and lead. It will be hard but do your job.
The integrity of our elections is already damaged and that weakens our Constitutional Republic because Americans cannot trust electoral outcomes. Americans are already doubting election integrity; that’s why Americans are demanding the SAVE Act be passed. They know it, so why do Senate Republicans not get it?
Senator Thune, enforce the filibuster to its fullest but figure out how to get the SAVE Act passed! Whatever it takes. Shut down all legislation in the Senate until it passes or even bypass the filibuster, but get it done! Average Americans don’t really care about your decorum, procedures, and traditions. If you let the Republic be eroded by unchecked voter fraud, then none of your posturing or even position matters. Senator Thune, this is your moment in history; do your job!
“But you, be strong and do not lose courage, for there is reward for your work.” 2 Chronicles 15:7
